October 2015 Wrap-Up!

Bye-bye October, hello November!

Another busy, busy month is over, and a new one is beginning. Reading and blogging-wise, October has been a terrible month. I have fallen behind on SO MANY activities! I have been working a lot outside of home, so of course that has taken its toll on my free time (spoiler: it's been basically non-existent). And I have a feeling that November will not be that different...

BUT! I still managed to read three books in October! This is quite below my average so far this year, but I'm still very pleased, considering I had very little reading time this month.

Once Upon a Time: Red's Untold Tale by Wendy Toliver - 4/5 stars
The Felix Chronicles: Freshmen by R. T. Lowe - 3.5/5 stars
Mistress of Justice by Jeffery Deaver - 3/5 stars (full review to come)

What I added to my shelves

Mistress of Justice by Jeffery Deaver - from the library
The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro - from the library
Io Amo: Piccola Filosofia dell'Amore by Vito Mancuso - gifted by a friend
The Seventh Bride by T. Kingfisher - thanks to the publisher and NetGalley!
Alice Takes Back Wonderland by David D. Hammons - thanks to Curiosity Quills Press and NetGalley!
Forget Tomorrow by Pintip Dunn - thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy!

My Plans for November

I'm always kind of wary of making big plans for my reading, since I have a distinct tendency not to follow them. I'm definitely a mood reader, so I often change idea on what book to pick up at the very last moment. But, this month, I will try to stick to my schedule!

- The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro - I'm reading this now, and I will definitely finish it very soon, because it is due back to the library. That's motivation for you!
- Time to Die by Caroline Mitchell - My other current read, this one for review. I definitely plan on finishing this pretty soon, because I am very curious to see how things will turn for DI Jennifer Knight.

I also hope to get through some of the review copies that I have neglected until now. In particular, I'll try to read:
- Never Never by Brianna Shrum
Alice Takes Back Wonderland by David D. Hammons
- The Traitor by Seth Dickinson

I'm linking up with Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga's Reviews.
What about you? How was your October? What are your reading goals for November? Tell me EVERYTHING in the comments!

Stacking the Shelves (Sept 26)

Stacking the Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves, physical or virtual, and sharing our excitement about our new titles. And why not, maybe also finding a great new read in the process! This weekly meme is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

Well, hasn't this been a crazy month! I feel like I've been incredibly busy, running around all day, and I've had barely any time to give to books and blogging. For the first time this year, I haven't finished a single book in two weeks! It just seems like I have zero time to devote to reading in between all the other stuff that has to be done. I'm a very sad bookworm right now... But maybe now that the cold is starting to arrive, I'll have enough excuses to spend my free time wrapped up in a cozy blanket reading!

Stacking the Shelves (Sept 13) - I'm Back!

Stacking the Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves, physical or virtual, and sharing our excitement about our new titles. And why not, maybe also finding a great new read in the process! This weekly meme is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

In case I hadn't made it obvious enough from the title of this post, I'M BACK from my break!! I took this week off to rest and recharge, and snatched this chance to go to Vienna for a few days. And I have to say I LOVED IT! It's a really beautiful city, and I enjoyed every minute I spent there. I also managed to find some time for reading, and finished The Weight of Feathers while I was away. The full review will be up later this week, but let me tell you right now that I really enjoyed it. And, of course, I took the chance to visit a few Austrian bookstores and get myself a bookish souvenir... What else is a bookworm to do during a trip?!

Stacking the Shelves - Monthly Edition (August)

Stacking the Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves, physical or virtual, and sharing our excitement about our new titles. And why not, maybe also finding a great new read in the process! This weekly meme is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

Well, it's been a while since I've done one of these posts. So I've finally decided to collect all the books I received throughout August in a single StS post, which came up to quite a massive haul! In other news, I've had quite a hectic month at work and in life in general, which is why I'm now going to take a break! I've decided to take a week off everything, which means there won't be any posts, and I also won't be replying to emails/comments. I'll be back (hopefully) fully rested next week! Until then...

I know it's something you're probably going to hear everywhere now, but I can't believe it's August already! I swear this year time is moving faster than usual... So, what's been happening in my life? I've now officially started in my new job, and that's been keeping me pretty busy, but still, I love it! Coupled with the incredible heat we've been experiencing, my hectic schedule has made it pretty difficult for me to do a lot of reading and reviewing. So that's why things have been a little slow around here, and also why I've decided to temporarily suspend all review requests until I've settled into the new schedule. I'll still review all the books I've already received, although it may take me a while longer than I initially thought and I hope to get back in full swing soon!

Stacking the Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves, physical or virtual, and sharing our excitement about our new titles. And why not, maybe also finding a great new read in the process! This weekly meme is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

Another hectic week has gone by, and nothing really exciting has really happened except for work, work, work... This week, I suddenly realised that my pile of review requests has kind of spiralled out of control. Luckily for me, it's mostly digital, so it's unlikely that it should  fall and squish me anytime soon (that could TOTALLY happen!), but I guess I'll have to tackle it fairly quickly anyway. That's why I'm putting myself on a self-imposed book ban until I have made a significant dent in my review pile, starting now. Unless, of course, something really amazing comes along...

Well, HELLO there! If you're in the habit of drifting over here every week to check on my ever-growing TBR list, you may have noticed there hasn't been a weekly haul post for TWO WHOLE WEEKS. Now, in case you were worried, I wasn't abducted by aliens in the middle of the night, nor did I stop buying/borrowing/requesting books (THE HORROR!). Nope, in reality I just decided to go on a last-minute holiday break before starting a new job this coming week. I had grandiose plans for my break, but in reality, I ended up looking more like this all the time:

Anyway, I guess I needed the rest, and now I'm charged and ready to get on with all that needs doing! And, of course, sharing ALL THE BOOKS.

Aaaand... another month has come to an end! I am kind of glad that May is over, to be honest, since it has been pretty packed for me. Although June isn't exactly looking too much better to be fair... Oh well! At least I've managed to find quite a bit of time for reading in this past week, so that's good! But now, on with THE BOOKS!

Goodbye April, hello May! I'm really amazed at how quickly another month has gone by, but I am kind of happy that May is here, since it actually brings me high hopes for some nice weather! My plans to catch up on some reading in this past week have miserably failed, since it's been even more intense than I expected. For the first time this year, I haven't managed to finish a single book during the whole week! I'm hoping to have some more time this week, but after looking at my schedule for the week, I'm not all that confident this will happen... But no more gloom, and onto the new books!

Stacking the Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves, physical or virtual, and sharing our excitement about our new titles. And why not, maybe also finding a great new read in the process! This weekly meme is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

Well, this was another hectic week! I'm so glad to finally have a long weekend to relax and, of course, catch up on some reading. I've so busy during the past week that I actually had very little time to read, which was not good at all. I also came to realise just how many e-arcs I still have to read and review, so I've decided to take it easy on the review requests until I've cleared my pile somewhat. And that's why this week's haul was actually very, very tiny: just ONE book! I know, I know... I amazed myself at my self-restraint. I'm not sure how long this will last, so I might as well enjoy this feeling!

So, we're back here at the end of another week. These past two weeks were pretty crazy, especially with all the extra work that has to be put in for the holidays to make sure everyone visiting the house is sufficiently fed. And by that we mean that they should really be eating so much that they will be unable to get back on their feet and leave before several hours. Anyways, I had a lovely time with family and friends, and also had some spare time for reading, which is always a plus! So, let's check out those new titles, shall we?

Stacking the Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves, physical or virtual, and sharing our excitement about our new titles. And why not, maybe also finding a great new read in the process! This weekly meme is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

Aaaaand... Another month has gone by! I just cannot believe it, it seems like yesterday I was writing this about February, and now it's the end of March already. Time is definitely flying by really quickly, although that's not necessarily a bad thing. At least now we can start to hope that spring will finally arrive, and that the long days of bad weather and cold are finally over. So, what happened during last week? Well, as I told you in my last Weekly Recap, I took part in an International Literature Festival in Venice as a volunteer. It was FANTASTIC to see so many talented authors and lovely volunteers come together from around the world to share their experiences and their love for books. Of course, I would have enjoyed it SOOOO much more if I hadn't fallen ill halfway through, which caused me to miss out on basically everything that happened in the second half of the week. But hey, that's life I guess.

Book-wise, it was a pretty good week. I've been sticking to my book ban, so YAY for my self-restraint. I'm not sure how long it will last, so I think I better celebrate while I still can. I didn't get that many new books this week, except for a few e-galleys that I had requested through NetGalley a long time ago. Although, actually, it may not have been that long ago after all. But let's see those books now, shall we?

This was another intese week, and I can already tell that next week will be even more! I can now officially say it: I have been selected to be a part of the team of volunteers that will assist during the International Literary Festival Incroci di Civiltà in Venice. I am so excited that I will get to meet lots of amazing authors and see the inner workings of such a big event! Of course, I will update all you lovelies right here on the blog at the end of next week, so you'll be able to know what I got up to during the event. And now, on to the thing you're really here for: ALL THE NEW BOOKS!

I've been pretty good this week in restraining myself from buying new books, and especially from downloading those devious little free ebooks. But, I couldn't resist a trip to the library, so I guess I wasn't really as good as I wanted to be... Although library books go back at the end of the month and won't take up any shelf space, so they don't really count, right? RIGHT?? Mmmm, maybe we can forget about this, and just enjoy this weekly haul.

Another week has gone by... I still haven't been terribly productive on the blog this week, since I've been running around a lot. Because of my ever-growing TBR and the review books piling up, I've decided to force myself to limit the amount of new books I get. I sort of managed this week, but let's see how long I last!

Free Ebooks

For Review

The DUFF by Kody Keplinger (Movie Tie-in Edition) - I haven't seen the film yet, but I heard some really good things about this book, so I'm really looking forward to reading this. Thanks to Hodder Children's Books and NetGalley!

That's all for this week! Did you read any of these books? What did you think? What books did you get this week?

So, I had promised myself I would try to hold off from buying books for a while because of my massive TBR and definite lack of shelf space... Yeah, right, like I could actually keep that promise. I visited my local book outlet, and there were so many titles just waiting to be brought into a loving home! And they were on discount! I just couldn't resist...
